FAQ

What does Pastoral mean?

While narrative therapy focuses on restructuring personal narratives from a psychological perspective, astoral includes Faith in restructuring personal narratives. The inclusion of Faith/Pastoral may depend on the client’s preferences and the nature of the issues being addressed in therapy.

How can you help a client?

Narrative Therapy is a process that helps you to shape new realities and meaning to your life. Through conversation and careful listening, threads of possibility, hope and renewal are woven into the tapestry of a life, creating the potential of well-being.

Your stories shape and influence you. Which stories do you listen to and which stories have you forgotten about? In the words of Aldous Huxley:  “Experience is not what happens to you. It is what you do with what happens to you.”

What is the cost involved and how many sessions should I attend?

A single session carries the cost of R500 and the duration is one hour.

We offer the option of 3 sessions at a discounted rate of R1 350, if the sessions are then pre-paid. Our experience has been that many new clients choose this option and thereafter the client and therapist decide on the way forward.

What happens if I have to cancel a session or do not show up?

We do have a cancellation policy – if the session is cancelled at least 24 hours ahead of the scheduled appointment, there is no fee involved. Thereafter it is R300. In the case of a “no show” your session will be billed in full.

Can I claim from a medical aid?

Unfortunately not at this point in time.

Are you a NGO?

No, we are not. In our individual capacity, however, we see ourselves as change agents in our greater community, which could include pro bono work.

Are sessions only in English?

No, we also offer sessions in Afrikaans.
